Augustino’s started with a small Italian grocery store, a family full of recipes and a neighborhood hungry for the real deal. Almost five decades later, we’re still serving up authenticity, value, and hefty portions of unmistakable value.

The Grocery Store

Augustino's first opened as a small Italian grocery store featuring specialty sauces and homemade pastas but it was in the back where the magic happened. Deli cases lined with handpicked meats and cheeses drew the crowds, and our menu grew to include homemade Italian beef, meatballs, soups and sauces made from time-tested family recipes. Now almost fifty years later, our commitment to value, quality and service remains the same. Our customers are generational, our staff are family, and our attention to detail is evident in every bite of an Augie's sandwich.

The Rock & Roll Connection

During his Korean War Service, Augie worked in transportation, booking USO acts and entertainment for the troops as part of his job. During entertainment gaps, Augie often joined other servicemen and performed for the troops by playing his trumpet. In the early days it was his small collection of memorabilia that lined the walls of our small restaurant and the collection grew. Now both locations boast Museum quality pieces reflecting on the strong Rock and Roll history of not only our country but the artists and bands from the Chicagoland area. Dining at Augustino’s is not just a feast for your tastebuds but feast for your eyes and ears as well.

At both locations a great many of our staff members have been here ten years or more - some twenty or more! So they know your order, your name and probably your kids' names too! Hearing "we've been coming here since we were little" is, as the family puts it, music to our ears.
